Bullying happened to me too
I never realised I was bullied until I left school. I never felt like I was bullied, I knew people didn’t like me and I had been the victim of being physical bulling but it never actually occurred to me that I was being bullied. It was just a part of going to school that I had to put up with.
I was never popular when I was at school right the way through from primary to secondary, but I guess pretty much all the bullying I experienced happened in secondary. When I was in second year, about 13 years old, I was commonly described as a “goth” because I like alternative music and wore skinny jeans and a lot of black. This mainly cause a problems because the large majority of my school were neds (The wiki article isn’t great in my opinion but it should give you rough idea), so anyone who is different from them is a target for them, I knew people who “swapped sides” so speak in order to avoid the bullying. I never changed because I always thought, “This is me, why should I change?”
Bullying wise I’ve been spat on, had chewing gum in my hair, all kinds of things thrown in my direction, sly comments, water poured over me in home ec and probably a lot more but I just can’t remember anymore. Writing this out makes me wonder how I never knew I was bullied...
The most direct kind of bullying I remember ever happening to me happened during, I think, my third year. In Scotland everyone has to take RME (Religious and Moral Education, which obviously didn’t work) and most people don’t want to be there. Unfortunately for me two of the most disruptive neds in my year happened to be in the same class as me and a few of my “goth” friends. I remember dreading going to that class because none of the teachers were any good at controlling or keeping their pupils safe. There is no story to this attack other than that I was sitting in class talking to my friend when he jumped off the table behind me and kicked me in the back. Everyone saw. The teacher saw. But nothing was ever done. I feel this speaks more about my schools attitude to this kind of behavior, like there was no point in doing anything because they’d do it anyway. I mean one winter a large group of were standing outside and we were having balls of ice with stones and all sorts in them thrown at us, I remember sitting for ages waiting to see the head teacher about it and then being told to just go to class.
Now that I’ve left school I haven’t actually experienced any bullying and it’s pretty great. I know it sounds stupid but being able to sit in a room and not having to worry about what people think or checking that all my belongs are with me or being scared that something is going to be thrown at me is pretty great. It makes life easier.

Things that make me happy
I also enjoy putting music on while I tidy my room and singing along rather enthusiastically with some bad dancing. With the curtains shut of course and when no one else is home.
A really cold drink on a hot day. I remember at the end of July last year I was in Edinburgh for the day and my bottle of water was cool anymore and I was so thirsty. I bought a bottle of cola on the way to the train home and it was the best thing ever!
Phoning my mum is one the few things that bring real joy on a day to day basis. I don't really like talking on the phone to anyone except my mum. Even if our conversation is just me telling her what had for dinner or her telling me the crazy things my nonna said, phoning my mum really brightens my day.
My last thing is taking an hour something to read or watch an episode of whatever tv series I'm currently obsessed with (right now it's Castle). Although, if I get really into the book ends up being longer and if it's a cliff hanger ending there is 99% chance I will watch the next episode to find out what happens. I think tonight I might watch castle and then read a bit of The Fault in Our Stars. I rather sadly got one of the unsigned copies that Amazon UK had sent out, in fact right now I only of one person who got a signed one.

Happy New Year!
This year I've had a great time. I started off with a Chritmas get together with my old school friends, every year we do secret Santa a way to save money. This year we all helped make a mini Christmas dinner, roast chicken and veg, soup and a lot deserts. I love seeing my friends this time of year since we all go to university in different places and its hard to get us all in the same place now.
On the eve of Christmas eve I went to visit my nonna with my dad, luckly my two great uncles were there too so that saved us a trip to see them too. It was really nice to get to see my nonna, she's 83 now and hasn't been very well lately so I'm trying see her as much as can now. She was still doing her best to fill us all full food a usual though.
The only real tradition we have now in my family is after dinner on Christmas eve me and my brother get one present, this is usual chocolate or something small and silly. I remember for years we would get glitter glue pens, and if I'm totally honest I would still have the most amount of fun with them if I still got them.
I spent Chritmas morning with my mum, brother, aunt and her greyhound, Mandy. We spent the morning opening presents and saying, "oh, you shouldn't have! You really didn't!" I spent the the afternoon watching tv cuddling up to Mandy. After we had dinner I headed round to my boyfriends so we could watch Doctor Who together but I ended up missing most of it because I was too busy asking his family how they were and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
The weather where I am has been super windy, like upto 90mph. On the 28th my mum, brother, aunt, dog and I where meant to be going to Arran, an island not far where we are but because of the weather all the ferries had been cancelled. We managed to get the first ferry the next day but my brother and I only got to stay one day because of this. I hadn't been to Arran in years and it is honestly one of the mot beautiful places in Scotland, if you ever make this side of the Atlantic you should put it on your places to vist list.
My new year was pretty standard. I went to a party and had a few drinks, manage just in time to switch on the tv to count down to the bells, hugged and kissed and wished everyone a happy new year.
I have no real resolutions other than to be better this year than last. It seems to me to be the easiest to keep and most achievable.

Yule Balls and Saints
For months now my friends and I have been planning a real Yule Ball, like in the The Goblet of Fire. And for a while it was just a thing, it didn’t really feel like something that was going to happen but now it’s a few weeks away I’m just like, “safhdkvbbvo!!!”
If someone had told me at the start of the year I was even going to be attending a yule ball I probably wouldn’t of believed them. Because mainly I wouldn’t of known any one nerdy enough to of gone with me and there is never anything like it held in the UK. I’m seriously looking forward to it.
I also noticed today when I was out for dinner with my friends that today is Saint Andrew’s Day. It just made me realise how little people actually care about it. It’s probably a bigger deal in schools and maybe if I paid attention to the news and stuff I would of noticed. But I kind of think if Scottish people had the same attitude as Americans, Saint Andrews day would be a much bigger celebration. But then again, I think I’m probably stereotyping.
Is there a patron saint of America or Canada? I know you can get lots of different saints for places but I don’t think I’ve heard of any for America or Canada. Even Glasgow has its own saint, Saint Mungo.
I apologise for that last bit of mindless pondering.

Space and time bending please!
I can’t remember what TV show it was but someone said they wanted to have ghost powers because it was like having three powers in, invisibility, flying and walking through walls. I thought that was really creative but I don’t think I’d want any of those powers. Invisibility is cool but I don’t think it’s really that useful, flying is cool too but it’s a bit Superman and I’m not sure I could pull it off, walking through walls would be good, I was going to say for robing banks or something but it depends if it’s just you or you and the objects you hold that can go through walls.
If we lived in a world where everyone had some form of superpower I’d quite like the power to use other people’s powers. Which I know is cheating but really everyone knows that Peter from Heroes was the best and a total bad ass.
I think that on a regular basis that I wish I could teleport. Like when I sleep in and am running late for college be able to teleport would be good because then wouldn’t need to worry about the long bus journey. Or when I’m really tired I could teleport home. It would be really useful if I had to carry heavy stuff. And I guess if was able to travel through space I’d also like to time travel. Time travel would be pretty cool but I’d only use it to witness important historical events. And also to buy as many 1950’s dress I can. A lot can go wrong with time travel but I think it could help me with handing work in on the deadline, I could do the same 10 minutes until it was finished.
Yeah, so basically I’d like the superpower to bend space and time.
